Founded in 1977, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press (CUHK Press) is a leading English-Chinese bilingual publisher of scholarly and trade publications. We are seeking a passionate editorial assistant to join our team.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) performing designated administrative tasks, such as arranging meetings and filing data; (b) evaluating unsolicited book manuscripts and making recommendations to senior editorial staff; (c) supporting editorial staff in all activities leading to publication, such as proofreading book manuscripts, obtaining rights to use materials from other publications, liaising with other in-house divisions, and editing contents for publicity activities; and (d) performing other tasks as designated by the supervisor.
Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education, preferably with a Bachelor's degree in Humanities or Social Sciences; (ii) Grade E / Level 2 or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (Syllabus B); OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 2 or above in Chinese and English) : Level 2 or above in NSS subjects, "Attained" or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects), and Grade E or above in Other Language subjects; (iii) an effective command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (iv) strong attentiveness to details and multi-tasking skills; and (v) enthusiasm for the publishing industry. Having experience in editing and proofreading is preferred.

Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
