The Chemistry Department at Hong Kong Baptist University has been offering this popular and successful taught MSc programme in Analytical Chemistry since 1992. This programme has the longest history and experience in Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific region. By a combination of taught courses, structured laboratory works, and supervised research, graduates gain in-depth knowledge of the theoretical principles of modern physico-chemical techniques of chemical analysis and are able to apply their knowledge critically to solve real-world analytical problems.

This programme has been recognized by the Hong Kong Association for Testing, Inspection, and Certification (HKTIC). It is the first MSc programme recognized by HKTIC. Graduates with 1 year work experience are eligible to apply for Certified Testing Professional (CTP) in Chemical Testing which is a widely recognized professional status by the local testing laboratories, companies, and industries within the field. Graduates will be exempted from all additional written examinations, but merely attend a professional interview for certification.

This programme has also been accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). It is the first & only MSc Programme and is one of the eleven MSc programmes in Analytical Sciences accredited in Hong Kong and worldwide, respectively. Graduates fully satisfy the academic requirement for the award of Chartered Chemist (CChem). It is a professional status that is internationally recognized within the field of chemical sciences.

Study Mode:
One-year Full-time OR Two-year Part-time)
Exchange Opportunities:
(1) This programme has been collaborating with the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials Science (ECPM) at the University of Strasbourg. Students can study abroad in France for 1 semester to gain international exposure and cross-cultural learning experience.
(2) This programme has been accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Students can take part in the 6-10 week research placement at an accredited university in the United Kingdom or Ireland to gain overseas research experience.
