The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library invites applications for a Research Assistant. The appointee will be assigned to the Research Data Team under the Research Support & Digital Initiatives of the CUHK Library. The Research Data Team is committed to developing a wide range of library support services relating to research data management and application development.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines; (ii) knowledge of research data management and proficiency in Python, R, or other data science languages; (iii) experience in data cleansing and analytical tools, building data and analytics solutions, data mining and visualization, and managing a SVM in Linux; (iv) strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; (v) self-motivation and co-operative ability to work independently and as a team; and (vi) an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to applicants who have working experience in Java and database systems.

Reporting to the Research Data Librarian, the appointee's duties include (a) supporting consultation service for researchers on research data management, data cleansing, and data analysis; (b) developing data analytical tools and performing data mining tasks; (c) managing a web application platform on data analytical tools; (d) collaborating with library teams to introduce new data science innovations; and (e) other tasks as assigned.

Appointment will be made on a contract basis for one year.
