The BSc (Hons) in Biochemical and Testing Sciences offers two concentrations of study: Biomedical Chemistry (BMC) and Testing and Certification (T&C), allowing students to choose based on their interests and career aspirations.

• The Biomedical Chemistry Concentration provides multi-disciplinary training for drug discovery and disease diagnosis, offering hands-on experience with a variety of modern chemical and biochemical instruments.
• The Testing and Certification Concentration^ offers students multi-disciplinary training in analytical and bioanalytical testing, equipping them with professional skills in food safety, drug testing, environmental monitoring, and forensic analysis.

The programme aims to develop students’ analytical mind, logical and critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, which are the essential generic capabilities in employment and postgraduate study. Through the integration of transdisciplinary training with elements of artificial intelligence (AI) and contemporary automation techniques, the programme equips students to keep up with the fast-changing technology and the demands of scientific innovation. By offering opportunities for international exchanges, research attachments and internships, the programme also enables students to gain international exposure and to apply their knowledge and skills in practical, real-world contexts.

^T&C graduates with 3 year work experience are eligible to apply for Certified Testing Professional (CTP) in Chemical Testing which is a widely recognized professional status by the local testing laboratories, companies, and industries within the field. Graduates will be exempted from all additional written examinations, but merely attend a professional interview for certification.
