It places emphasis on the understanding of family dynamics in children’s outcomes, and teaches the use of education and intervention programmes to strengthen parenting practices for the positive development of children.
It aims at helping students to acquire specialized training in family counselling and family education. It enables students to advance their professional competence and skills in relation to family practice and parental education.
Master of Social Sciences in Educational Psychology／
It covers both theoretical and practical aspects of educational psychology. Courses include psychoeducational assessment and intervention, children with special needs, research methods, applied developmental psychology, curriculum and instruction, motivation and learning, professional ethics and issues in educational psychology, and skills-training seminar. Supervised practical training and an empirical thesis are also included.
It aims at providing students with the required knowledge, skills, exposure, and insights to (1) analyze human behaviors from a psychological perspective, (2) develop research expertise in a specific area in psychology, and (3) pursue advanced professional training and a career in psychology. It is an advanced and intensive conversion degree scheme that combines the award of a Master’s degree with eligibility for graduate membership with the Hong Kong Psychological Society and the British Psychological Society.
It sets out to provide an education for students who are holders of Bachelor's degrees with Honours in fields other than psychology who have an interest in gaining psychological knowledge. It will also serve as the first step for those who intend to pursue Master's level education or above in the field of psychology in Hong Kong or overseas (e.g. Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, etc.)
