Oncology Nurse (Cancer Support Specialist)

By bringing together professional help and social support within a uniquely designed architecture, Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre provides practical, emotional and psycho-social support to empower people affected by cancer, their families and friends to live with, through and beyond the illness.

We are looking for a high calibre candidate who shares our visions and values to join our growing team in Tuen Mun.

Descriptions

As an oncology nurse in Maggie's, you will actively

  • Support cancer patients and their family to understand their cancer related concerns;
  • Provide ongoing individuals and family consultations to them within the 'drop in' component of Maggie's programme;
  • Provide clinical and practical information as well as emotional support to them;
  • Contribute to facilitate psychosocial and psycho educational components of Maggie's Programme particularly in relaxation support groups;
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team including clinical psychologist, social worker and dietitian, etc;
  • Maintain up to date records and reporting of activity data as required by Maggie's policies and procedures;
  • Be responsible for the development of cancer support programme and teaching materials;
  • Liaise and provide public education to different professional bodies and general public;
  • Assist Centre Head with centre administration or any other works as required.

Requirements :
  • A nursing degree (or equivalent training), with at least five years post qualification experience within an oncology nursing or related setting.
  • Registered nurse with HK Nursing Council with valid practicing Cert.
  • Broad and up to date knowledge in the field of cancer.
  • Enthusiasm in helping people affected by cancer with a caring attitude.
  • Good interpersonal skills, sensitivity, a warm empathic manner and understanding to the needs of people with cancer, their family and friends.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and personal qualities of a good team player who is able to work with a multi-disciplinary team effectively.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin preferable).
  • Counselling knowledge is an advantage.
