Applicants should have (i) a doctoral degree in a social science discipline with eight years of experience in Applied Social Science research (for Research Fellow) ; OR a Master's degree in a social science discipline with four years of experience in Applied Social Science research (for Research Associate); (ii) excellent English writing skills; (iii) proficiency in written Chinese; (iv) excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research skills; and (v) conscientiousness, agreeableness and openness personality attributes. Those with less experience but with a doctoral degree may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow.

The appointee will work under the supervision of the Dean of Social Science or his delegate and be part of the Research Support Team in the Faculty Office of the Faculty of Social Science.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) assisting the Assessment Units under the Faculty of Social Science in the preparation works for the 2026 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) including (1) collecting and collating data on the research environments of the Assessment Units; (2) designing, collecting and organising evidence for the research impact cases prepared by the Assessment Units; (3) editing and polishing up the research impact cases and environment statements prepared by the Assessment Units; and (4) providing feedback on the research outputs and their narratives to be submitted for the RAE exercise; (b) communicating effectively and collegially with his/her supervisor, colleagues in the Faculty Research Team, heads and administrators of the Assessment Units, the Faculty's RAE external consultants, the impact case authors, and administrators of the relevant university units; (c) working under the Dean of Social Science or his delegate to develop new impact cases for the Faculty after the assessment units have made the 2026 RAE submission; and (d) collecting and disseminating colleagues' relevant works to a wider audience for the engagement between the Faculty and the society.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
