The University Planning Office leads and co-ordinates major university-wide planning processes, and oversees institutional data provision and analysis to support management decision-making and compliance needs. The appointee will be a key development team member for both the frontend and backend of a new web-based system that will maintain a centralised record of all the Sub-degree, Professional, and Continuing Education Programmes offered by the University. The system will feature a new data collection portal for the collection of data, usually in Excel format, and for the automatic validation of data. Another core function of the system is to provide management reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) crucial for programme monitoring and quality assurance.
Being the overall project manager of this university-wide initiative, the appointee will be responsible for (a) analysing respective data collection processes for system implementation and possible process re-engineering; (b) designing the data model and schema of the new system for system interface and data migration; (c) creating a friendly web-based user-interface, and implementing the system functionalities of the server-side to meet the requirements of all stakeholders; (d) ensuring all implementation works are up to expected quality and specification; and (e) assisting in other project-related activities throughout various stages of implementation.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines; (ii) a proven track record of at least 2 years' post-qualification work experience in system analysis, design, and development of large-scale web-based business or operation systems; (iii) excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and business languages; and (iv) self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive mindset, and problem-solving skills. Hands-on experience in creating friendly user interfaces and developing modern web applications using ASP.NET Core and MS SQL Server will be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
