Assistant Physical Education Manager (Student Affairs Office)

The appointee will be required to (a) plan, prepare and deliver physical education / fitness room training / physical wellness courses; (b) design / teach new sports courses to enrich the physical education curriculum; (c) manage / coach sports teams and provide support to student-athletes; (d) coordinate / organise competitions and sports exchange programmes with local / regional / overseas universities; (e) assist in the promotion / screening process of the student-athletes admission scheme; (f) assist in managing the sports facilities; (g) promote physical wellness and deliver programmes to educate students about benefits of physical activities; and (h) serve as the convenor / members of the Organising Committee to organise the University's sports events. The appointee may be required to work on irregular hours.

Applicants should have (a) a recognised degree or above in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Coaching or a related discipline; (b) at least five years of work experience, preferably with university-age students and/or young people; (c) knowledge of intercultural and educational development for university students; (d) solid administration and leadership skills and a desire to mentor others to help them reach their full potential; (e) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to communicate in other languages including Putonghua being an advantage; and (f) good interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.

Preference will be given to those with a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Cert Ed., BEd., or PGDE), experience in Physical Education with classroom teaching practice as a part of the teacher training, or experience as the coach of related sports. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
