Assistant Director, Technology and Innovation (at the rank of Assistant Registrar) (Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services)

Applicants should have (i) a good university degree, postgraduate qualification will be an advantage; (ii) at least twelve years' post-qualification experience; (iii) knowledge of Intellectual Property (IP) management and licensing; (iv) experience in business development and product development processes in technology or biotechnology companies; (v) knowledge of incubating and launching startups and social enterprise; and (vi) sound computer literacy. Proven track record in management and development of research innovation and impact would be an advantage.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing leadership in managing multiple teams to facilitate technology transfer and collaboration with external academic, industry, government and community partners; (b) supervising IP and technology transfer activities including patent prosecution, preparation of contracts for licensing and collaboration; (c) executing various funding schemes to support technology transfer and innovation activities; (d) negotiating and resolving contractual and legal issues related to collaborative research agreements; (e) promoting an innovative and entrepreneurial culture that inspires researchers to participate in knowledge transfer; and (f) performing ad hoc tasks.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
