Executive Officer II (Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine)

The Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM), under The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), was founded in January 2016, aiming to integrate multiple disciplines in biomedical sciences, engineering, and clinical medicine, ultimately to facilitate and fortify the development of neuromusculoskeletal tissue engineering (TE) and regenerative medicine (RE). The Institute upholds the vision of applying convergent principles and technologies of science and engineering to restore the structure and function to injured, diseased and degenerated tissues and organs for the enhancement of quality of life through biomedical research and development.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) financial and accounting management; (b) human resources matters; (c) research projects and grants administration; (d) organising Institute activities and events; (e) managing collaborative agreements and joint initiatives with partner institutions; (f) communication, image building and publicity; (g) management of research postgraduate students; (h) committee service; (i) proposals and reports compilation; (j) daily co-ordination with Institute staff and other units; (k) general management of Institute office; and (l) performing other duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned by the iTERM Director or the delegate.
Applicants should have (i) a recognised Bachelor's degree; (ii) fulfilled the English language requirements set out on the website : https://www.hro.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/languageforeo ; (iii) at least 4 years' post-qualification administrative experience, some of which must be gained from tertiary institutions or equivalent; (iv) proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluency in Putonghua); (v) experience in handling human resources-, communication-, finance- and research-related matters, and in event co-ordination; (vi) proficiency in computer applications, such as MS Office (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint), Chinese word-processing, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc., and knowledge of webpage design and maintenance; (vii) good communication and interpersonal skills with the quality of a team player; (viii) excellent analytical and organisational skills with attentiveness to details; and (ix) strong self-motivation with abilities to multitask, and work independently, under pressure and tight deadlines. Hands-on experience in website development and maintenance and in financial, human resources, project and research management in academic or higher education settings will be especially well-suited for this position. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
