The appointee will be responsible for (a) sourcing, writing and editing news stories and feature articles for University publications (both print and online); (b) producing high-quality working and final drafts in accordance with editorial workflow; (c) writing, translating, sub-editing and proofreading various articles and reports and working closely with the design team for page layout and design; (d) interviewing students, staff, university officers and alumni with a view to writing pertinent and highly readable feature articles; (e) researching into topical and technical issues with a view to writing pertinent and highly readable reports and articles; (f) other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Applicants should have (i) a good Bachelor's degree; (ii) fulfilled the English language requirements set out on the website : https://www.hro.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/languageforeo ; (iii) excellent storytelling and writing skills in English and Chinese (proficiency in Putonghua is preferred); (iv) IT knowledge and dexterity with a keen visual sense. Knowledge of and/or experience in one or more related areas, such as journalism, advertising, law, design, blogging and/or big data analytics, is preferred. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test in both English and Chinese.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
