Accounting Officer / Assistant Accounting Officer

Founded in 1979, Wai Ji Christian Service (WJCS) is a government-subvented non-governmental organization (NGO) providing a range of services mainly for people with intellectual and other disabilities to help them develop their potential and integrate into the community. WJCS runs 23 service units and a social enterprise known as Wai Ji Hong Yip.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team to provide daily accounting services, including issuance of cheques, preparation of fund transfer and recording thereof into the accounting system, preparation of accurate financial statements and supporting schedules for monthly submission to Accounting Manager;
  • Maintain inventory record and fixed asset register;
  • Reconcile inter-company balances, cash flow forecast, variance analysis and schedules;
  • Prepare regular reports to Social Welfare Department and fund reports;
  • Manage investment of available funds to maximize net returns within the provisions of Agency investment policies;
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audit including preparing audit schedules and liaison with external auditors;
  • Assist in preparation for accounting inspection by Social Welfare Department and liaison with Social Welfare Department;
  • Assist in review and enhancement of internal control policies and procedures;
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders on accounting issues;
  • Perform secretarial duties in committee meeting;
  • Handle ad-hoc tasks as requested.

Requirements :
  • Bachelor degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines; preferably a member of professional accounting body (or at least in the semi-final stage);
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience with not less than 2 years in NGO;
  • Proficient in MS-Office, especially in Excel, VBA and Flex Accounting System;
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team building skills with solid experience;
  • Well-organized with strong sense of responsibility;
  • Highly independent and self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet timeline;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good command in both spoken and written English and Chinese;
  • Potential candidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Accounting Officer.
