The appointee will work at the Laboratory Animal Services Centre (LASEC) under The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in Shatin, and its satellite facilities in Hong Kong. This is an opportunity to work in the stimulating field of laboratory animal science and gain unique skills in a multidisciplinary environment.

The appointee will (a) manage building projects by liaising with both external parties on collaboration and extension of LASEC's services and internally with the Director and Assistant Director of LASEC; (b) provide vision and strategic planning for the enhancement of the overall research capacity of LASEC; (c) supervise facility management by ensuring smooth co-operation with relevant departments for facilities and services maintenance and upgrades; (d) manage equipment inventory and replacement schedules to ensure functionality, biosecurity, and sound fiscal management; (e) assure consistent delivery of supplies to LASEC and associated animal facilities; (f) assure a safe working environment for staff and researchers in LASEC facilities in collaboration with the LASEC safety officer and the University Safety Office; (g) oversee the writing and review of Standard Operating Procedures for Operations and Quality Assurance; (h) oversee the ISO9001 Quality Assurance Programme and drive for continuous improvement; and (i) support the preparation for LASEC to obtain AAALAC accreditation.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in biological sciences-related areas; (ii) at least 1 year's post-doctoral experience in clinical/scientific research; (iii) experience, training and knowledge of animal research to an international standard in academia and industry; (iv) knowledge of international standards of animal care, ethics and techniques; (v) a strong publication record; (vi) previous supervisory / managerial experience; and (vii) good knowledge of computing applications in a research setting. Knowledge of and experience in the AAALAC accreditation system will be advantageous.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
