The Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research invites committed frontline practitioners with expertise and management experience in various academic disciplines (Science, General Studies, STEM, IT) and student support areas to join the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) as School Development Officer(s) (SDO).

Founded in 1998, QSIP has been evolved from a fixed-term project to an organisation conducting multi-projects supported by various funding sources and providing self-financing professional school improvement programmes to schools. QSIP endeavours to actualise the philosophy of comprehensive school improvement, in the capacity of external change agents, and achieve the objectives of (1) strengthening the professional leadership of school leaders and middle managers; (2) developing an evidence-based self-improving mechanism at schools; (3) creating an environment and a culture conducive to sustainable school development; (4) strengthening teachers' professional capacity for the enhancement of learning and teaching effectiveness; and (5) consolidating and disseminating school improvement knowledge and experience through inter-school and inter-regional networks. Further information about QSIP is available at http://www.fed.cuhk.edu.hk/qsip

Applicants of SDO I should possess (i) a Bachelor's degree with at least ten years' relevant experience in education, preferably in school management and leadership, curriculum development, and core subjects' expertise in primary or secondary education; and (ii) solid experience in leading a departmental / functional group and rich pedagogical content knowledge to cater for learner diversity. Solid experience equivalent to Principal Graduate Master (PGM) / Senior Graduate Master (SGM) in secondary school or Senior Primary School Master (SPSM) in primary school or above, and track record in facilitating school improvement at both school-level and department-level will be advantageous. Those with less experience (at least six years' experience) after obtaining the Bachelor's degree will be considered for the appointment as SDO II.

The appointee(s) will (a) provide school-based support for partner schools on a regular basis to enhance professional capacity of school leaders, middle-level leaders and frontline teachers; (b) train the school community to internalise the processes of building vision, setting priorities and establishing a governance structure; (c) conduct action learning and lesson study; and (d) conceptualise experience and good practices in school improvement, including school management, learning and teaching, and student development, in forms of article, exemplar, publication material, tool kit, and report.

Appointment(s) will initially be made on full-time / fractional-time / part-time contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
