Student Counsellor (carrying the job title of 'Head of SCDS')

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS), founded in 1965, is a self-financing extension unit of the University with its mission to provide quality lifelong education to the community of all ages. The School offers a wide variety of full-time and part-time post-secondary, professional and continuing education programmes and general courses in diversified disciplines. CUSCS now invites applications for the post of Student Counsellor to oversee the operation and lead the Student Counselling and Development Services (SCDS) Section to serve full-time students of the School.
Applicants should possess (i) a Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling or a related discipline; (ii) at least five years' relevant post-Master's working experience; (iii) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and (iv) administrative and counselling experience in working with young adults at tertiary education level. Preference will be given to applicants who are HKPCA Certified Counsellors, CCE Certified Global Career Development Facilitators or NCDA Certified Career Services Providers.
The appointee is expected to (a) provide leadership to SCDS; (b) supervise the professional staff team; (c) provide guidance and counselling services; (d) strategically plan, design and conduct developmental programmes which include the industrial mentorship programme and the Student Ambassador Project; (e) initiate and co-ordinate exchange programmes, study tours and service trips to enhance student development; and (f) build partnership with programme committees, teaching and administrative staff for the whole person development of full-time students.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
