Assistant Unit Manager (Food and Toiletries Unit)
Administering and Delivery of Assistance for Non-refoulement Claimants
(a) Assist the Unit Manager in ensuring that eligible service user receive their food, clothing and toiletries assistance in a timely, accurate, appropriate and efficient manner. (b) Develop efficient systems and practices and ensure consistent application across offices following the defined timelines and parameters set by the project. (c)Work in partnership with the Area Managers, senior caseworkers, social workers / counsellors, and all support units in monitoring and evaluating the quality of assistance received while incorporating and responding to client feedback and request. (d) Handle inquiries, reports, grievance and complaints from clients, colleagues and other relevant parties as they arise and/or as assigned. (e) Supervise, train, evaluate and monitor the assigned team.
(a) A recognized university degree or equivalent. (b) At least 2 years relevant work experience with asylum-seekers and torture claimants. (c) Proven supervisory skills preferably with multi-ethnic staff while providing service to service users of diverse ethnicity, languages, religious backgrounds and needs. (d) Excellent working knowledge of Hong Kong's community resources and public services. (e) Work experience in handling food provision (especially in kind and developing related systems) is a distinct advantage. (f) Strong organizational skills and flexibility to work at irregular hours, weekends and holidays.
Other Requirements :
Good command of oral and written English; fluency in at least one minority language and/or ability to communicate in Chinese is a distinct advantage; computer literate; experience working in a cross-cultural working environment; have a valid work visa and flexibility to work in Kowloon and New Territories Regions.
Post will be on contract basis.
