The Faulty of Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong seeks candidates for the appointment as Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor for the BA Programme in Cultural Management.
Established in 2012, BA Programme in Cultural Management is the first and only BA programme in such discipline in Hong Kong. It is a multi-disciplinary programme with emphasis in providing the knowledge and skills in the studies of public humanities, with the intention to provide students a substantial understanding in the studies of humanities, nurture their critical skills in cultural studies, at the same time equip them with the practical and administrative skills in cultural management.
In line with the Programme's development, the Faculty invites applications around the globe for the appointment as Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. Expressions of interest from scholars in all fields of cultural management are welcome, but applicants with interests & industrial connections in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: Cultural & Arts Management; Museum Studies; Cultural Policy; Creative Industry; Curatorship, etc.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in cultural management or a relevant discipline; (ii) demonstrated knowledge and engagement with the field of cultural management as discipline and profession; and (iii) possessed record of effective teaching and an ambitious research program including experience in fieldwork and publications. All professors in the Programme are expected to contribute to research, teaching and service; therefore applicants for Professorship must have a demonstrated record of leadership in all three areas. Applicants for Associate Professorship or Assistant Professor should be able to demonstrate potential for leadership in all three areas.
The successful candidate(s) would serve as a professoriate post in the BA Programme in Cultural Management for (a) teaching and curriculum development; (b) planning and realising the Programme's initiatives; and (c) research and continuous academic support for the Programme.
Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Further information about the Programme is available at https://www.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/cumt/
