Head of Youth and Community Service / Community Development Service


Applications are invited for the post of Head of Youth and Community Service/ Community Development Service, which will fall vacant in November 2018. The specifications of the right candidate for the post are as follows :

Responsibilities :

  1. Overall strategic planning of Youth and Community Service / Community Development Service in line with the Vision, Mission and Values of Caritas - Hong Kong.
  2. Providing leadership and direction for over 500 staffs under Youth and Community Service / Community Development Service.
  3. Rendering supervision and guidance to a team of 40 senior supervisors and supervisors to ensure the provision of quality service and the effective management of the day to day operation of the service units, programmes and projects.
  4. Planning and development of new services in response to social needs.
  5. Monitoring the use of subvention/funds from the Government and other sources to ensure proper utilization of the public funding and spending within the service budget.
Requirements :
The candidate should :
  1. be a registered social worker with a recognized university degree in social work;
  2. have at least 15 years of post-qualification experience in social work field, of which five years must be at the senior supervisory rank of Youth and Community Service / Community Development Service;
  3. possess good knowledge about polices and services for young people and community development;
  4. be competent to promote team work and cross-professional collaboration, in service planning and development;
  5. be capable to lead the Service to meet socio-economic challenges and to initiate changes in a decisive and efficient manner; and
  6. possesses a good command of both Chinese and English language, verbally and in writing.
