Department of Civil Engineering
Technical Officer (Ref.: 201801169) (to commence on October 1, 2018 or as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with hands-on experience in the operation of material and structural testing systems, preferably with at least 2 years' relevant work experience. Knowledge of solid mechanics and electronics would be helpful. They should be competent in general computer applications and possess a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese. Apart from being self-motivated in learning across disciplines, responsible and well-organized, they should also possess good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as a team player in a multi-disciplinary environment. The appointee will be expected to assist the teaching staff primarily in the daily operation of testing laboratories, including the Concrete Laboratory, Material Testing Pool, and the Structural Engineering Laboratory for undergraduate courses and research projects. On-job training of the operation of equipment will be provided.
