The Campus Planning and Sustainability Office (CPSO) provides support to senior management in key areas of the University's physical development and planning underpinned by sustainability principles. A core function of CPSO is space management. In accordance with the vision and framework for development laid down in the Campus Master Plan, CPSO formulates strategies and implements policies on space allocation, monitors space utilization on campus, and provides relevant data to improve the quality of management decision making in relation to space efficiency.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, architecture, environmental studies, sustainability management, or a related discipline; (ii) at least seven years' (for Administrative Assistant) / twelve years' (for Assistant Secretary II) post-qualification experience, including that in campus planning and space management in a sizable organization, preferably in the public sector; (iii) an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); (iv) strong analytical, numeracy and IT skills; (v) demonstrated ability to undertake effective policy analysis, scenario development and planning approaches for a wide range of planning and development issues typical in campus environments; (vi) exceptional interpersonal skills, including effective listening, collaborating, negotiating, persuading and influencing, and resolving conflict; and (vii) knowledge about how institutions of higher education operate.

The appointee will (a) assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive plans for the management and utilization of space in accordance with the University's strategic priorities; (b) deputize the Director, as required, in negotiations with heads and management of University units on space planning and management matters, including short- and long-term solutions to help the units meet their strategic objectives; (c) conduct initial reviews of space requests and offering pertinent ideas and recommendations to facilitate management or committee deliberation and decision making; (d) conduct planning and feasibility studies to evaluate possible scenarios to support space planning and address space issues; (e) provide guidance to users in understanding University procedures and best practices for space management; (f) deal with regulatory processes and managing compliance of policies and regulations about space management and utilization; and (g) perform other duties as assigned.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
