    Master of Science (MSc) in Drug Regulatory Affairs and Policy (DRAP) offers a high-quality MSc program designed to train professionals in drug regulatory affairs and policy, which are critical areas for Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area development. A notable highlight in the HKSAR Policy Address 2023 is the establishment of Hong Kong Centre for Medical Products Regulation (CMPR).

    The HKCMPR will be dedicated to potential restructuring and strengthening of current regulatory and approval regimes for medicine, medical devices and medical technology, in order to accelerate the approving applications and launching for registration of pharmaceutical products to the market.

    Our program is unique for preparing students to become proficient managers and main practitioners of guidance documents, laws, and regulations for pharmaceutical companies and government agencies. Upon completion of this program, graduates will be well-equipped to assume regulatory affairs positions in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic and healthcare products companies, as well as government agencies.

    Master of Science (MSc) in Drug Regulatory Affairs and Policy (DRAP) aims to prepare graduates to become lifelong learners and leaders in diverse settings including biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, consulting, and liaison with government and regulatory agencies worldwide.

    The curriculum is composed of required courses and elective courses. Students are required to complete 30 credits by taking four required courses and six elective courses. A minimum of three DRAP courses are required in the elective courses. The normal period for completing the degree is 1 year by full-time mode and 2 years by part-time mode. The majority of the courses will be conducted on weekday evening/Saturdays at HKUST.

    Our teaching team is composed of the faculty members of the university and external experts who are the directors of pharmaceutical companies, Contract Research Organization (CRO), and/or the reviewers of regulatory agencies such as FDA, NMPA. The teaching team possesses high qualification and extensive experience in the field of drug regulatory science, ensuring the students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful regulatory professional.

    Target Students

    The program is targeted at technical / research / managerial personnel / professionals in government or biotech industries, who seek to pursue further career advancement . These individuals should have some work experience in drug discovery and/or development. Some knowledge in drug registration should be beneficial for the program study. Individuals planning to pursue a successful career in drug regulatory affair are also our targets.

    Admission Requirement
    A bachelor's degree or above in life sciences, business management, engineering, health science, law, computer sciences, mathematics, and other relevant disciplines.

    Additional Requirement
    Relevant work experience in areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or health-related industry will be highly favorable.

    English Language Admission Requirements
    Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:
    TOEFL-iBT: 80 *
    TOEFL-pBT: 550
    TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)
    IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5

    Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if their first language is English, or they obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.
