The programme is designed to provide students with the disciplinary and professional competency to teach the subject of Chinese Language. Graduates of the programme are eligible to apply to become fully qualified and registered teachers of Chinese Language in primary or secondary sector. This programme aims to nurture students to become professional and competent primary or secondary school Chinese language teachers who:
1. Have a high level of proficiency in Chinese;
2. Have in-depth knowledge of the Chinese language;
3. Are eligible to apply to become fully qualified and registered teachers of Chinese Language in primary or secondary sector in Hong Kong;
4. Can effectively use relevant information technology knowledge and skills in teaching the Chinese language subject;
5. Have lifelong learning skills and are able to appreciate moral, social and cultural values;
6. Can work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, school administrators and other professionals; and
7. Understand education issues of Hong Kong and will react to educational innovations positively.
